Scaffolding guides
Practical scaffolding guides to help you plan work on your home in Southend-on-Sea and Essex.

What a scaffold survey involves
A scaffold survey is our surveyor on site with a tape, looking at what a photo cannot show. This is what they look at, what to have ready, and what comes back.

Scaffold tags explained: what the card on the standard means
Every scaffold we hand over carries a tag: a holder fixed to a standard at the access point, with a card in it.

How long can scaffolding stay up?
There is no legal maximum. A scaffold can stand for as long as the job needs it, provided it keeps being inspected, stays tied, and any highway licence stays valid.

Do you need scaffolding for a loft conversion?
Usually, yes. A dormer or a hip-to-gable opens the roof and puts people and steels at eaves height and above, and that needs a scaffold. A rooflight-only conversion sometimes does not.
